Memorial Cross Sitting atop the Dyersburg Hill Postcard

This photo was taken by TheSleepyBride. This beautiful memorial cross sits atop a very tall hill as you drive from Tiptonville or Ridgely on your way to Dyersburg, Tennessee. At night, the cross is illuminated and can be seen from miles and miles away. A few years ago the original cross was torn down when a deadly tornado crossed through the area killing many people. It took several months but the cross was rebuilt and placed a few feet away from where the original cross sat. As a child, seeing the cross on our drive to or from Dyersburg was always such a special thing and now that I have a son, he loves getting to see it as well. On the day this picture was taken, my son and I were on our way home from a mummy/son movie date and since we'd had such a great time, I decided to take him up to see the view and see the cross first hand. He was so excited and took as many pictures as I did only he used his Leapster Explorer and I used my HD cell. I'm not a professional photographer by any means but I love this photograph. It was kind of a happy accident. It was such a brightly lite evening that I was having trouble taking photos. So before leaving, I got my son in his booster seat, got into the drivers seat, fastened my seatbelt, and pointed up towards the cross and blindly snapped the photo. It was a great way to end mine and my son's date.
