The buttons are very durable. They function well as long as you don't try to use them on really thick materil. I even used one for temporarily mending a heavy fabric bag when the handle worked loose. Gorgeous on the second try. The design needs to have high contrast and brilliant colors to come off well. (I'm a designer.)
