Mediaeval Angel With Harp Gold Renaissance Fine Ar Card

This lovely golden mediaeval angel is an illumination by the Italian Renaissance artist Cristoforo Cortese. The angel is holding a musical instrument identified as a Portative Organ (a term I love). This artwork comes from a mediaeval manuscript and the original is actually very small -- it took some work to size it up, and when I did, I was amazed at the detail. Cortese painted this mini-masterpiece between the years 1401 and 1407.
