    The Martin Baker MB5 fighter prototype was deemed by many who flew it as potentially the best propeller fighter design of the War. However by the time it flew in May 1944 the interest in anything but jet aircraft was almost non existent and the progress of the War one way so no opportunity to test its pedigree was given.
