About This Design

Mayan Hunab Ku Creator & Planetary Symbols Coaster

Mayan Hunab Ku Creator & Planetary Symbols Coaster

This Hunab Ku design represents the symbol of the Creator God in the Mayan culture. The meaning of the name Hunab Ku is “The Only God.” The Mayans created the symbol of Hunab Ku consisting of a circle and a square similar to that of Pythagorean structures. The symbol represents the Mayan understanding that four elements make up the universe – earth, air, water and fire. The symbol Hunab Ku represents the cosmic consciousness and that Earth and Man are part of this consciousness. The Mayans separate time into periods of 13 days. Instead of the common linear understanding of years, months, weeks, Mayan calendars understand time as a spiral, a rolling wave. A wave is composed of 13 tones, or days that steadily unfurl. How we observe these waves and geometric shapes of time unfolding influences the way we conduct ourselves in this reality. Instead of relating to this idea that days are simply mundane moments in time, every day represents a deeply symbolic colour, tone and rhythm. The energy of the entire Universe emerges from the centre of the cosmos. Different religions and cultures call this universal centre by different names; Tibetans call it Mount Mero and Mayans call it Hunab Ku. This design is surrounded by celestial planetary symbols to complete the Hunab Ku universal symbolism.

Beautiful horse drawing on this coaster makes it a great conversation piece. Artist is very talented! The printing Zazzle did is nice and crisp, but not as black as I would have liked and the edges had some execess on them But some sandpaper fixed the issue
