Masai Mara: Wildlife heaven. African Safari: The Masai Mara National Reserve, The most popular reserve in Kenya due to the high concentration of wildlife. The Masai Mara is one of the best known and most famous reserves in the whole of Africa and has some of Africa's largest and most varied wildlife populations. It has almost all animals of the African continent. The reserve shelters about 80 kinds of mammals and more than 450 varieties of birds. It is also famous for its big cats (Leopard, Rhinoceros, Cape Buffalo, Elephant and Lion) and the great migration. The Masai Mara wildlife counts large resident herds of animals (zebras, antelopes, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, impalas...) and their predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas all year round. Hippos are abundant in the Mara River as are very large Nile crocodiles. Large numbers of predators inhabit the Masai Mara and you may witness a hunt. A lion hunting is quite common in the Masai Mara.
