Maruni Daki Myoga Watch

Myoga crest (Maruni Daki Myoga). This is the most commonly used crest among Myoga crests (according to 'The Encyclopedia of Family Crests' by Takazawa et al.). During the medieval period, there was a Matara faith, in which a myoga was offered to the deity's image and a bamboo was placed beside it during worship. The myoga represents worldly desires, while the bamboo represents nothingness. In other words, one can attain enlightenment by rendering all worldly desires as empty as bamboo. The myoga is a symbol of this deity. Matara is a transformed deity of Okuninushi, worshipped in the Jogyo Sammaido hall, and is related to the Honji Suijaku theory that emerged in the early Heian period. As Matara was also worshipped as a deity managing the dead and spirits, it was believed that those who worshipped it would attain a peaceful death (according to 'Monsho' by Ito Kosaku).
