Manet Bar at the Folies Bergere puzzle. Oil painting on canvas from 1882. One of Manet’s last works, A Bar at the Folies-Bergere has been intensely analysed by art critics since its debut. The work depicts a blonde barmaid standing at the counter holding a conversation with a gentleman with moustache and top hat. Behind the young woman stands a mirror that reflects the entire bar scene as well as the conversation. The woman wears a low cut blue dress with a corsage of flowers pinned to her chest below a necklace. The counter is filled with bottles of champagne and various liquors as well as a crystal dish of peaches and a glass with two roses. A beautiful bar painting for fans of Manet, nineteenth-century Paris, and French realist art.
