Mallard Duck, 1834, From the Birds of America Tote Bag

This is a remastered reproduction version of the Mallard Duck, 1834, Plate Plate CCXXI, based on the series “Birds of America” by John James Audubon (1785 - 1851). The illustration shows both male and female ducks. Robert Havell (1793 - 1878) engraved, printed, and coloured the original version. Creating the original vintage prints employed hand-coloured engraving techniques and the aquatint process on Whatman wove paper. The original Birds of America book is very expensive because of the limited number of original books published and their popularity. The bookplates are incredible and awe-inspiring classics. This version has been digitally remastered and enhanced. Vibrant colours were introduced to this enhanced version. New fonts have been substituted for the original fonts, which were of poor quality and could not be enhanced. The new fonts provide clarity and crispness to the image. The borders on this remastered version have also been expanded to make them more uniform.
