Azurite psuedomorphed by Malachite on Calcite, (ex-collections Walt Lidstrom & G. W. Fisher), Concepcion del Oro, Zacatecas, Mexico, 2" tall. SOLD Over the course of 20+ years collecting minerals you start to actually believe you've seen it all. I have never seen anything like this before. Oh, yes, plenty of psuedomorphed Azurites, lots of Malachites and Calcites, but not like this one. A very sharp vertical crystal of Azurite has been altered into the most stunning Malachite. The Malachite is a very delicate acicular crystallisation that has developed into the form you would more normally see on polished slabs of Malachite from Russia or South Africa. The gorgeous multi-toned banding of the Malachite is unique. The crystal is totally complete and sitting on the termination of a honey coloured Calcite crystal (the Calcite even has a well defined phantom inside). This is an old timer from a classic Mexican locale.
