Machhapuchhre, also known as "Machha Puchhare" or "Fishtail Mountain," is a prominent peak in the Annapurna range of the Himalayas, located in north-central Nepal. It stands at an elevation of 6,993 metres (22,943 feet) and is known for its striking, double-peaked summit that resembles the tail of a fish, hence its name. Machhapuchhre holds special significance for the local Gurung and Magar communities and is considered sacred, associated with the Hindu god Shiva. Due to this cultural reverence, climbing to the summit has been restricted by the Nepalese government, preserving the mountain in its pristine state. Geographically, Machhapuchhre is renowned for its stunning views, especially from Pokhara, a nearby city popular with trekkers.
