This slogan was widely used during the Lutheran Reformation and is rooted in biblical passages such as Isaiah 40:8 and 1 Peter 1:24-25. These passages highlight the eternal faithfulness of God and his living Word. The Lutheran reformers considered God's unchanging faithfulness to his Word as central to the gospel.
