Good Luck Wishbone Poster: It began with ancient Etruscans (people from Etruria in ancient Italy) who would rub the furcula bone of a chicken because they believed these fowl possessed magical powers and doing so would help their wishes to come true. Ancient Romans continued this use of the chicken bone but did so with two people pulling on either side of the bone. The one who broke their side of the bone with the end piece intact would then have their wish granted. Today this tradition continues but it includes turkey wishbones as well as those from chickens.
