Lovely Victorian Transferware Floral Tile c1880

This is a reproduction of a Victorian design from the late 1880s. Transferware tiles were originally produced using a decorative technique that was developed in England in the mid-1700s. BY firing the design onto the tile prior to filling in with colours, decorative tiles were produced at lower cost and their popularity spread quickly since they were now far more affordable than labour-intensive hand painted tiles.
