Vijayanagara is a ruined capital city of the historic Vijayanagara empire which extended over the southern part of India. It is located in northern Karnataka, India, and surrounds the modern city of Hampi. The Lotus Mahal was the palace where the queen used to stay during the summer. It is a beautiful structure, built with brick and mortar, unlike many of the other surviving buildings.
