Little Red Centipede Note Card

Isn't it cute! My best attempt at ID is geophilomorpha (strigamia), a soil centipede found under a fallen hunk of bark. Centipedes are carnivores and hunt for food. As predators, they can and do bite; although the bite is relatively harmless, it can be painful.They have only one pair of legs on most body segments (millipedes have two and are vegetarians). This species is known to produce silk - the male makes a web to deposit his packet of sperm for the female. They may use silk in the capture of prey. It is thought they recognise "food" by scent and, perhaps, touch. They are arthropods, and I can't find a category for them here on Zazzle.
