The Little Flower. Another piece from years ago. St. Thérèse of Lisieux tapped into heroic virtue while in her cloister. Closed off from the world, she wrote letters to her sisters about her interior life. To do small things with great love was her way. But she didn’t want to do small things… Inspired by the great saints, she wanted to be an evangelist, a martyr, a hero that would shower blessings down upon the earth from heaven, believing all things could be obtained through prayer. With humble devotions to the Child Jesus and the Holy Face of Jesus, she took her role as a small hidden flower among the many, and prayed. She died of tuberculosis at the age of 25 and left behind her collected writing to her sisters, compiled as an autobiography in “Story of a Soul.” St. Thérèse, pray for us.
