Little Chebeague Island Waldo Hotel circa 1890 Poster
Built as the Osgood Hotel in 1867 and later renamed Sunnyside House, it was enlarged and the name changed to The Waldo by 1884. It had 70 rooms, a dining room that could seat 150, gas lights and a bowling saloon. On July 4, 1893, fireworks landing on the roof destroyed the hotel; no one was injured, and the hotel was not rebuilt. The cannon seen here was built in the 1830s as a smooth bore 6 pounder, later rifled for 12 pounders, probably during the Civil War. It was shipped to the island by the Maine Militia for the 1876 GAR state encampment, along with 100 rounds of ammunition. It was never returned, and was stolen in 1941.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
