LILI'S DETROIT T-Shirt

Lili's in Hamtramck, Mi, was one of the bars in the Detroit Punk scene in the 80s. The Detroit Free Press headlined an article in 1980 with Punk and Polka at Home at Lili’s. It was the story of Lili's, a Polish neighborhood bar that went on to find it's place in Detroit's rich music history. Lily's son, Art Lyzak, vocalist for The Mutants, pushed her to start getting bands. She finally did and the wild times began. Notable visitors to Lily's were The Clash, Iggy Pop, and Kelsey Grammer. Bruce Springsteen tried to get in on a busy night but got turned away at the door because Lyzak says, Lili didn’t know who he was. Some of the bands that were big in the Detroit scene at the time were The Mutants, The Cadillac Kids, Nikki Corvette, the Rockets and the Torpedos.
