It was the first time in my life I have seen a sun halo. Moon halos are spotted more often. A sun halo is a ring or light that occurs due the sunlight refracting in millions of ice crystals. The halo is usually seen as a bright, white ring although sometimes it can have colour. This effect is caused by thin cirrus clouds, which are formed very high up in the atmosphere. Weather folklore says a ring around the sun or moon means it will rain soon but it might not always been the case. Archaeologists have found the remains of more than 30 lighthouses built by ancient Romans. The first British colonial lighthouse is located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was built in 1716."
