Libertarian Civil Disobedience Tie

Libertarian Civil Disobedience Tie

So we all know about the elephant and the donkey, but what about the little known Libertarian mascot? That’s right, the porcupine. Fitting, don’t you think? This piece is not so much about libertarianism as it is the idea of civil disobedience and how it relates to a number of thinkers and philosophers that I either like, or at least tolerate with a polite nod. In short, we can establish that the definition of the term is something like: Refusal to obey governmental demands or commands especially as a nonviolent and usually collective means of forcing concessions from the government. This is especially pertinent to conflicts such as seen in the Egyptian Revolution of 1919, Martin Luther King Jr. and of course, Gandhi. Gandhi stated "Civil disobedience is the inherent right of a citizen to be civil, implies discipline, thought, care, attention and sacrifice". The term was coined by Henry David Thoreau in an essay by the same title which was written during the time the author was refusing to pay taxes in defiance of slavery. It should certainly be noted that this sort of oppression is often fought most successfully by civil disobedience rather than civil war which has fast change, but highly unstable change. So in short, a porcupine makes total sense as an icon, not only for a political party that espouses these beliefs, but for the belief itself. I originally ordered 1 tie to test and ensure I liked it with the suits we had ordered! The tie came and it was perfect! We loved it! The colours were bright and the tie was beautifully made. I then ordered the 6 additional ties and the colours are slightly different. The 6 ties were a little less vibrant and the white background was slightly different! .
