Madonna of the Carnation (aka Madonna with Vase or Madonna with Child) (1478-1480) by artist Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519).
A vintage Renaissance Era fine art religious portrait painting featuring a young Virgin Mary Magdalene with her baby, the infant Jesus Christ on her lap. Mary is seated and wears precious clothes and jewelery. With her left hand, she is holding a carnation (interpreted as a healing symbol). The faces are put into light while all other objects are darker (the carnation is covered by a shadow). The child is looking up, the mother is looking down — there is no eye contact. The setting of the portrait is a room with two windows on each side of the figures.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
