Le Chat Noir Black Cat Vintage Poster Print
This beautiful poster for cat lovers, cat owners and fans of vintage cat art shows an advertisement for the famous French cabaret venue Le Chat Noir. The club was opened in1881 at 84 Boulevard Rochechouart in the Montmartre district of the city of Paris by the artist Rodolphe Salis. The nightclub closed in 1897 following Salis’s death but entered the hall of fame with the now famous Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen painting of a black cat with brilliant yellow eyes and magnificent whiskers. The poster, created by Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter Steinlen in 1896, advertises a tour to other cities by the Le Chat Noir's cabaret artists.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
