This commemorative card features a reproduction of a photograph of African American law school graduates at Howard University in Washington DC; the original photo was part of a series of photographs compiled by W.E.B. Du Bois. Du Bois was committed to combating racism and he felt that displaying photographs of affluent young African American men and women challenged the so-called scientific evidence and popular racist caricatures of the day; taken in 1899.

A beautiful card. Highest quality materials and print. Misunderstood the explanation of the gold accent. I took it as the design would be metallic in its appearance. Still a lovely card and I am extremely happy with it overall. Perfect, only that I expected the gold to be metallic.
