Last of the Arctic Sun Print
This is a watercolor that was painted plein air while travelling on foot through the Alaskan wilderness. It shows the late sun shining down on the arctic landscape during autumn in the far north. The light came radiating between the ancient spruce trees and seemed to travel a path across the fall air. The golden sunshine was quietly powerful in the near silent air, with only the faintest distant sounds echoing gently. This brief moment of farewell to the seasons, seemed to stretch on, with a sense of comfort and familiarity in this strange and rugged land. The moment seemed to both remind and distract from changes to bitter cold, that will arrive when winter comes.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
