Lascaux Cave Dordogne France Travel Classic Round Sticker

Lascaux Cave Dordogne France Travel Classic Round Sticker

The Dordogne region in southwestern France is home to some of the world's most remarkable prehistoric rock art, dating back over 17,000 years. These ancient artworks, found in caves such as Lascaux, Font-de-Gaume, and Rouffignac, provide a glimpse into the lives and beliefs of early humans. The Lascaux Cave, often called the "Sistine Chapel of Prehistory," is the most famous, featuring over 600 paintings and 1,500 engravings of animals like bulls, horses, and deer. The vivid depictions, created with natural pigments, showcase an impressive level of skill and understanding of movement and perspective. Although the original Lascaux Cave is closed to the public to preserve its fragile paintings, an exact replica, Lascaux IV, allows visitors to experience its wonders. Other caves in the Dordogne also contain exceptional examples of prehistoric art. Font-de-Gaume is one of the few sites where original polychrome (multi-coloured) paintings can still be seen, featuring bison, mammoths, and reindeer. Rouffignac Cave, also known as the "Cave of a Hundred Mammoths," contains an extensive series of engravings and drawings, many created with simple yet precise lines. These sites are part of the Vézère Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage area, which has one of the highest concentrations of Paleolithic art in the world. The rock art of Dordogne offers a unique connection to our distant ancestors, revealing their artistic expression, spiritual beliefs, and deep relationship with the natural world.

Great customer service. After a long delay, I contacted Zazzle and they immediately declared the stickers were lost by the post. Another printout was created and expressed post at no cost to me. They came within a week in time for our first harvest. The stickers are exactly as ordered. They fit perfectly on my small honey jars. My daughter, Philippa is over the moon to see her name on the honey jars.
