Lamb of God (Agnus Dei) (Sacrificial Animal) Tissue Paper

This design features a painting by the Spanish Baroque artist Francisco de Zurbarán. It shows a merino lamb between eight and twelve months old; its feet are bound and its body is in a sacrificial posture. The animal can be seen as the Lamb of God, which is an allusion to Christ's title as recorded in John's Gospel (John 1: 29) when John the Baptist describes Jesus as "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World". The original artwork was completed between 1635 and 1640, and it is now housed in the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain.
