Opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi. In this illustration, Joe Barsin visualises this tragic but beautiful opera. Violetta Valéry, a famed Parisian courtesan, is slowly dying from tuberculosis but finds strength through her love with Alfredo. At first she plays hard to get with Alfredo but gives him a flower and tells him to return to her when it has wilted. As with all great opera tragedy's, they are madly in love but another man, Baron Douphol, comes between them. Alas, the horrible misunderstanding is resolved just in time for the pale Violetta to die in Alfredo's arms.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
