Charge épique des patriotes combattant lors des rébellions de 1837-1838. Poussés par un idéal républicain, ils s’en allèrent au combat malgré leur force moindre. Sur le dos d’un destrier, la mère de toutes les batailles mène les patriotes vers le combat, leur insufflant le courage nécessaire pour le combat. Son arme est l’épée de justice. On peut apercevoir les couleurs des patriotes sur le drapeau brandit par l’un d’eux et sur la cocarde à la tunique de la Justice. Au Québec, le premier lundi précédent le 25 mai est un jour dédié à la mémoire de ses insoumis.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
