La Giralda de Sevilla - Don Quixote Background Poster

The tower's first two-thirds is a former minaret from the Berber Almohad period of Seville (built through years 1184-1198), the upper third Spanish Renaissance architecture. After Seville was taken by the Christians (1248) in the Reconquista, the city's mosque was converted to a church. The tower is 95.5 m in height and it was one of the most important symbols in the mediaeval city. As the Giralda is mentioned in the second part of Don Quixote, this backcground was used for episode 22 of the series and in this way was the Giant Giralda portrayed in the cartoon animation TV series DON QUIXOTE OF LA MANCHA. Don Quixote was first published in 1605 and its continuation in a second part was published in 1615. Our merchandising commemorates both the IVth Centenary, which started in year 2005 and will end in 2015, and the 30th.+ Anniversary of the TV series. This poster portrays one of the 3.000 backgrounds produced for the TV series in the 3-year production process.
