The artist was especially fond of animals, and his Hawk represents one of the finest renderings of the Japanese bird of prey from the period. The hawk stands atop a ragged tree branch on one claw, spreading its wings in front of an orange falling sun. A beautiful gift for fans of Kuniyoshi, hawk paintings, and Japanese art.
