[Kutsuwa] Kutsukamon is a family crest that symbolizes a bit. Since a bit was a conversion of a ring and was a tool to be put into a horse's mouth, it was also called kutsubami in the past. It is common to have a cross in a ring...It is called jumonji-kutsuwa. There are two types of Kuwamon. One of them is a bit, and the other is a cross. Although these bits were originally not bits but were often pieces of bit, they were mostly pieces of bit because Christianity was banned in the Tokugawa period and therefore, in order to avoid any doubts about them.
