This wall clock has a centre of faux bricks, and on the wall is written in white the words "Kilroy was here" a saying that goes back to WW2, but which has obscure origins. It was a popular thing to write on walls in Britain during war time. If your father or other family member is British, and of a certain age, they may recall seeing this on a brick wall growing up...I know I did!
