New poster featuring the painting Melody (1895-1897), or Musica, by Kate Bunce.
The picture shows a young woman playing a lute, the model may have been the artist's sister Myra. The woman is facing an open window, visible in the mirror behind her. You can also see a crucifix and a stained glass image of the Virgin in the mirror, suggesting that the lute player is performing inside a small chapel. On the right side of the painting is an ornate vase, overflowing with apple blossoms. The picture has a solemn atmosphere, but is also very decorative, full of luxurious colours, details and textures.
Kate Elizabeth Bunce (1856 – 1927) was an English painter and poet associated with the Arts and Crafts movement.
Digital restoration in April 2021: Image cleaned. Careful enhancements to bring back the freshness of the original painting.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning!
