JWST Commemorative T-Shirt

JWST T-Shirt JAMES WEBB SPACE TELESCOPE Commemorative The focus of the patch design is the primary mirror of JWST, the Optical Telescope Element. It consists of 18 hexagonal mirror segments made of gold-plated beryllium which combine to create a 6.5 m (21 ft) diameter mirror. In the centre of the patch the launch on an Ariane 5 launch vehicle from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana is depicted. At the top the JWST is shown fully deployed in space. The 20 stars represent the 14 countries and 6 academic and industry partners involved in this effort. The countries of the three space agency partners are honoured at the bottom. They are: United States of America: Overall responsibility for the Webb mission. Continent of Europe: Provides the Near Infrared Spectrograph, Mid-Infrared Instrument Optics Assembly, and the Ariane Launch Vehicle. Canada: Provides the Fine Guidance Sensor/Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph. This commemorative patch was designed by Tim Gagnon and Dr. Jorge Cartes.
