This image was inspired by the remarkable work of John Martineau, in "A Little Book of Coincidence". Tiled colourized planes of Jupiter's Great Red Spot (shifted +/- 120 degrees of hue, too, to complete the secondary colours) form the background. The hexagon within a triple nested hexagram defines the orbit of Earth. The orbit of Jupiter is defined by the outer circle. Spheres are used instead of circles for a more artistic effect. The image of the earth actually represents the orbit of earth, not the size of the planet. More info: www.GeometryCode.com. I think John Martineau's name will (some day, hopefully soon!) be heralded among Kepler, Galileo, Newton and Einstein for the astronomical discoveries he's made. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
