oin, or Die is Benjamin Franklin's political cartoon published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754. It's the earliest known pictorial representation of colonial union produced by a British colonist in America.
The original was actually a woodcut showing a snake severed into eighths, with each segment labelled with the initial of a British American colony or region. The cartoon appeared along with Franklin's editorial about the "disunited state" of the colonies, and helped make his point about the importance of colonial unity.
During that era, there was a superstition that a snake which had been cut into pieces would come back to life if the pieces were put together before sunset.

I love this item; I got it for a contemporary frame but to go in a rustic enviornment and it couldn't be any more perfect for it! I was also very nervious because I ordered it on the regular paper and after the fact thought maybe I should have upgraded the paper but it looks really nice, no need in this case. It came in a very big tube completely protected and wrapped in paper too. I was veery impressed. I think this is my best Zazzle purchase so far. Looks great. I am impressed.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
