Postcard inspired by a beautiful painting by John William Waterhouse (Juliet, 1898).
Waterhouse loved literary themes, so, of course, the young girl in this painting is Juliet Capulet, the female protagonist from Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet.
Juliet is depicted outdoors in Verona, close to a canal, and she's wearing a gold headband and a white renaissance dress with red sleeves. She seems to be standing still, deep in contemplation, only touching her blue bead necklace.
