English painter JMW Turner was renowned for his vivid landscape paintings during his life, but also created some stunning mythological works. The Golden Bough depicts a scene from Virgil’s Aeneid in which Aeneas consults a Sibyl in order to enter the Underworld. The painting shows the Sibyl holding a sickle and the golden bough needed to enter the land of the dead. I was a bit disappointed to find that for the price the puzzle was only a small 252 pieces ..... but ....... it is so intricate that if it was bigger I would be frazzled by now bought as a special Christmas jigsaw for work colleagues to play with in our breaks - it is a great way to get the team to collaborate on something fun, and to start conversations between folk, and a great positive opportunity to provide compliments on the effort put in and progress being made the puzzle itself is beautifully made - each piece feels lovely (not a cheap cardboard puzzle) and the shapes are all similar but different Still a work in progress after a week - it's great!!!! a truly lovely thing ... it will come out each year - both at work and at home. great image, and fantastic finish on the pieces
