The Jerome Grand Hotel was originally constructed in 1926 as the United Verde Hospital and was believed to be the best equipped facility in Arizona and possibly the Western United States. As the Jerome Mining operations came to a close, in 1953, the city entered a ghost town period and this historic building was abandoned until 1994 when it was purchased by the Altherr Family and renovated to become the “Jerome Grand Hotel”. The hotel is believed to be haunted by the spirits of those who died here during its time as a hospital. Several media Specials have covered the reported happenings at the hotel and a number of spirit finding events have been initiated by specialists in the field. There have also been a number of reported incidents witnessed by employees at the hotel. The hotel now offers first class accommodations and receives visitors from around the world who would be delighted to experience any of the reported occurances in the many rooms and halls of the hotel. The “Asylum”, located at the hotel is a first class restaurant and is a favourite of locals and visitors alike.
