The expression is associated with the Japanese holiday Setsubun, which has come to be celebrated on February 3rd, though the ornament is a fun anytime decoration. (An incentive for Oni to stay away the year round...?)

I was extremely happy to find a tree ornament for my Occupational Therapist daughter. (I bought one a few years ago for my Paramedic son) & prior to seeing this I was trying to work out how I could create something similar for her. Unfortunately my first order was deemed lost in the mail which meant it didn't arrive in time to give my daughter when she finished Uni.
