Jane Austen Regency sewing Wrapping Paper

Jane Austen Regency sewing Wrapping Paper

Jane Austen's favorite things besides writing wonderful books were sewing, tea drinking and cake eating , bonnet trimming and sewing of all types. This Jane Austen wrapping paper features Jane's favorite pastimes illustrated in watercolour. Jane Austen giftwrap inspired by reasearching Jane's favorite hobbies and pastimes plus regency fashions and painted in watercolor on a background on one of Jane Austen's letters to her sister Cassandra. Read more about my visits to Jane's home at Chawton, my research and art project which is an homage to Jane Jane loved to write, to read, to socialize and sew. She also loved eating and drinking! In one of her letters to her sister she says " You know how interesting the purchase of a new sponge cake is to me" During my research, I found that Jane would have eaten Bundt cake, for breakfast. They did not have baking powder in those days, so it was very labor intensive and made by whisking many eggs. Jane loved buying ribbons and flowers for her bonnets. She loved a good sewing party, even saying she was the best at sewing her brother's shirts. Jane kept the key to the tea cupboard on a chatelaine like the one in this fabric. She was a great tea lover and always made tea every morning for the family. In regency times they had no sewing machine, electric or things we take for granted!

I needed a vintage looking paper to line some draws of some furniture I upcycled and this gingham paper fit the bill perfectly. The paper was very easy to use and it turned out beautifully. The colour and quality was excellent.
