James Tissot On The Thames poster. Oil painting on canvas from 1874. French artist James Tissot spent most of his career in England beautifully capturing the events of everday Victorian life. On the Thames depicts a gorgeous young woman stepping out of a riverboat onto a small wooden dock. A nearby sailor holds the boat steady while another lends the lady his hand. The young woman wears a black bonnet and dark black scarf. She is clothed in a typical Victorian dress with bodice and whalebone ribbing. The fabric of the dress is ornately decorated with red flowers. In her lace gloved hand, the woman carries a beautiful basket full of white and yellow daisies. A pretty gift for fans of Tissot, Victorian art, riverboat paintings, the Thames and England.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
