Italian Landscape with Draughtsmen Poster
This is a reproduction of “Italian Landscape with Draughtsmen” of about 1651 by Jan Both. This is a masterpiece of the Flemish Renaissance which depicts a rural scene of Latona, the mother of Apollo and Diana, with the peasants of Lycia, the region of southwestern Anatolia particularly devoted to their worship. Jan Both was from Utrecht who was found in Rome by 1638 when he was aged twenty to twenty-eight years. He concentrated on landscapes, particallary following the lead of Charles Lorrain. In 1639 he collaborated with Lorrain on a project in Madrid. He returned to Utrecht by 1646 and enjoyed an ever widening reputation for golden landscapes drenched in a Mediterranean sun. He died in Utrecht in 1652. This masterpiece is an oil on panel measuring 187 by 240 centimetres and is in the Rijksmusseum in Amsterdam.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
