Aloha from Hawaii Island (the "Big Island.") This beautiful little beach is on famous Alii Drive. La'a Loa means very sacred in the Hawaiian language, and it is the spot of an ancient Heiau. There is always a large honu or two swimming at this beach. These sea turtles are an endangered species, protected by state and federal law. It is illegal to touch or interfere with them. This beach is sometimes referred to as Magic Sands Beach, since the size of the sandy beach can vary depending on the tides. The shadow of the palm tree is one of many in this picturesque spot.
