Insulin and Glucose uptake Poster

Insulin is secreted by the beta cells of the pancreas. The stimulus for insulin secretion is a high blood glucose The amount of insulin secreted into the blood increases as the blood glucose rises. Insulin has an effect on cells that have receptor for this hormone. In response to insulin, these cells absorb glucose out of the blood, thus lowering the high blood glucose levels into the normal range. This diagram show the signal transduction pathways leading to translocation of glucose transporter Glut4 to cell membrane. Any defect in this pathway would result in diabetes (type 2). Scientifically accurate. Great for school science (biology) lab, doctor offices, clinic, hospital,... for educational purposes. Vector file scaleable to any size without losing resolution.
