The barkeep told us the history. They tried to keep it peaceful at the old 1860's mining saloon, The Criterion Hall. There were no working gals and cribs, although there were women who would dance and sing and drink. Cards, Roulette, and other casino gambling games flourished. Miners needed a place to spend their gold and this was it in the wild back-country of Montana. Even though they tried to keep it peaceful, there were a few incidents of fist fights, gun fights, and murders inside the saloon.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
