Saint Anthony Anthony of Padua, OFM or Anthony of Lisbon was a Portuguese Roman Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. He was born and raised by a wealthy family in Lisbon, Portugal, and died in Padua, Italy. Born: August 15, 1195, Lisbon, Portugal Died: June 13, 1231, Padua, Italy Beatified: May 30, 1232​--In 1231, when he was 36, Anthony died. Within a year, the Church declared him a saint because of the many miracles that he had performed in his life. People remembered his sermons. Many had lost God, and he helped them find God again​.
