'Igreja Nosso Senhor do Passo' Poster

Digital enhancement of an original woodcut print of a church in Brazil. Paul Simon taped a video at the base of these steps. The Brazilian film "Pagador de Promesso" (The Promise Payer), which won at Cannes in the 50's, was filmed on these steps. The artist created the woodcut from a photo taken while serving in the Peace Corps in Brazil. "Igreja" means church in Portuguese. "Nosso Senhor do Passo" is the name of this particular church in Salvador, Bahia, the artist's favourite city in Brazil.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
