I Survived Matthew Cuthbert's Death Shirt

When tragic things happen, we tend to remember where we were and how we felt. I was 10 years old the first time I saw Ken Sullivan's Anne of Green Gables. I wept when Matthew Cuthbert died! I felt like I had lost a loved one. I have read Anne of Green Gables many times since then. I always cry when Matthew passes away. My daughters tease me about it but they cried too when I read the book to them. It is a reminder that we are privileged to love those who leave us in tears at their passing. Real or fictional, we are better for having loved people (and characters) who leave us with so much to mourn.
